Cake is the EXTRA we all need in life.
What was once a simple, icing-heavy dessert, however, has completely evolved again and again. Hoomans have made it their own personal canvass, and we’re not complaining. We’ve had the so called Geode Cake, Marble Cake, Mirror Cake–each of it beautiful in their own right.
The latest cake taking Instagram by storm is literally a splash of color, created by Kalabasa bakery all the way from Moskow, Russia.
It has earned the name “Brushstoke Cake” as it looks like something you can only create with a brush dipped into various colors then painted on a blank canvass. Who knew it would look exactly as beautiful in a cake?
The cake is decorated with colorful “painted chocolate feathers” (as the bakers at Kalabasa call them) and the rest of it is finished with chocolate splatters and airbrushing.

To say that these cakes are beautiful is an understatement. I can’t imagine the amount of planning that goes behind each cake to make sure all the colors will complement.
